Hosts with passion
...how the Tiroler Buam found their way to Salzburg and stayed.
Robert and Sarah are passionate hosts. Their love for hospitality was passed down from Robert’s parents, Sylviana & Edi, who took over the private house Ilona from Sylviana's mother, Chriszentia, in 1979.
They opened the Restaurant Tiroler Bua.
After a devastating fire, the restaurant was rebuilt in 1983, along with a guesthouse featuring 12 rooms and a sauna. Following the birth of their son Robert, the Tiroler Bua became the Tiroler Buam.
In 1991, the property was expanded again—this time with 12 apartments.
In 2004, son Robert joined the family business and has since worked hand in hand with his partner Sarah and his parents.
Between 2007 and 2011, further renovations and the addition of a wellness area took place. After that, the younger generation officially took over the business.
Since then, we’ve put our heart and soul into Tiroler Buam—with plenty of hard work along the way!
In 2016, the house was expanded to include a cooking school & in 2019, another quality initiative was launched in which 22 rooms were renovated & an elevator was installed.
One thing’s for sure: with our two passionate hosts, life at Tiroler Buam & Madln will stay full of energy and surprises. So stay curious!
